I used the rose petals from a non-denominational wedding, where I witnessed what real trust could look like in a relationship, and what I was missing in mine. That started a search from the past to the present, where I used photograph of miniature fashionista figurines I had created as a kid, black and white portraits from a photo booth in Berlin on a trip to vicariously experience my grandfather’s work 1930s excursion, as well as a photo of me taking this very canvas to Time Square and performing a sun salutation Yoga pose. The painting is a moment of reflection, but like every experience, simply a moment.
